Our mission in the French- and German-speaking world

The University of Strasbourg fosters and maintains strong partnerships with German institutions in the fields of education and research. Franco-German cooperation shapes the everyday life of its university community.

Franco-German cooperation at the University of Strasbourg

Strasbourg is closely linked to Germany by its history and geopolitical location. The University of Strasbourg has nearly 300 Erasmus+ partnerships in Germany and Austria. It encourages students and staff to go on mobility programmes to German-speaking countries, and hosts a large German-speaking community in Strasbourg. In addition to partnerships with German institutions, the university continuously seeks to develop collaborative networks such as Eucor – The European Campus, the Knowledge Transfer Upper Rhine2 (KTUR2) project and the interdisciplinary research hub GermanoPôle.

A relationship at the heart of education and research

The university offers more than 60 Franco-German study programmes that allow students to obtain a double or triple degree (Bachelor's, Master's or postgraduate degree in engineering). A large majority of these programmes are accredited by the Franco-German University (FGU). Many other study programmes focus on the German-speaking world. The university also has several doctoral colleges accredited by the FGU.

Franco-German friendship in everyday life

Franco-German friendship is part of everyday life within the University of Strasbourg community. You can improve your language skills at a language exchange café, attend courses from German-speaking universities either online or in person, take part in a cross-border project, and much more...

The academic year is punctuated by exchanges and events such as the awarding of the Grand Est Franco-German University Prize, Franco-German Week and exchanges between staff from the University of Strasbourg and German-speaking universities.

To make sure you don't miss out on anything, sign up to the "Germano-fil" platform on the intranet (Ernest). It brings together students and staff who are interested in Franco-German relations and, more broadly, in German-speaking countries. It also lists events related to the German language.
