Overview
The Legal Services and Institutional Affairs Office (Service des affaires juridiques et institutionnelles – SAJI) has two departments: the Institutional Affairs Department (pôle vie institutionnelle) and the Legal and Litigation Department (pôle juridique et contentieux).
The Institutional Affairs Department is responsible for:
- Supervising university elections for central, faculty and service councils
- Supporting meetings of the Board of Trustees, the Academic Council and the University Assembly by sending invitations, preparing materials, following up on decisions and publishing deliberations and minutes online
The Legal and Litigation Department is responsible for:
- Assisting and advising the Senior Leadership Team, the General Services Office, faculties, schools, institutes and services on all legal issues relating to the university
- Representing the university in legal matters, including handling pre-litigation and judicial and administrative litigation (for example, negotiating settlements, drafting briefs and submissions, etc.)
- Providing guidance on complex cases and contributing to audits to identify appropriate legal solutions for collaborations
- Monitoring legal developments and developing tools for faculties, schools, institutes and services such as practical guides and templates
